Terry McPhillips revealed his pride in the Blackpool players after a breathless 2-2 draw at Peterborough United.
The manager was quick to admit that the game ‘had everything’ at The ABAX Stadium, with goals from Armand Gnanduillet and Nathan Delfouneso seeing the team come back to level matters on separate occasions.
Speaking post-match, here’s what the manager had to say…
An exciting encounter.
We like to make it exciting. It was a hell of a game, and you’re getting your money’s worth if you’re paying to watch that. The lads were unbelievable with the spirit and getting the blocks in and that. I’ve just watched the highlights back and we have had the better chances, and Jordan’s chance at the end could have snuck it. I’m really proud of the players today.
Overall, I’m really pleased with the effort, the commitment and the quality – I thought some of the stuff we played second-half, in particular, was really good.
Big save from Mark Howard at the end.
We’re expecting him to save them now because that’s what he does. He’s done ever so well and if he isn’t careful he’ll be going back to The Championship soon. Hopefully that’s with us. We’ve got a really good goalkeeper.
Obviously the goals against record has gone today, but this (Peterborough) team is not top of the league for nothing. They score goals and outscore teams, but they haven’t managed to do that against us today.
