Nya Kirby was pleased to mark his latest start in a Blackpool shirt with his first goal in professional football.
The England youth international, on loan from Crystal Palace, hit a sweet volley to draw the team level in the first-half against Luton Town.
“It was a big moment and one I’ve always been looking for,” he admitted. “It was a good connection so I didn’t doubt it (going in).”
The initial equaliser from the 19-year-old helped The Seasiders become more accustomed to the game and eventually take the lead, however Luton salvaged a point late on to leave the dressing room disappointed.
“It was an exciting game of football. We’re disappointed that we didn’t get the three points but it’s always good to get a point away from home.”
The start Kirby made was his second in seven appearances for the club, though he didn’t find out he was lining up at Kenilworth Road until before the match.
“The gaffer let me know just before the game. I was excited to start and because I’m a London boy, I had family here with it being just round the corner,” he revealed.
