McPhillips: Get As Many Points As We Can

Manager Looks For Strong End To Season

17 April 2019

Terry McPhillips insists Blackpool will be going all out to end the current Sky Bet League One season on a high.

Speaking ahead of a Good Friday fixture against Scunthorpe United, the manager set his stall out for the remaining four matches and also revealed that planning is underway for the new campaign.

Here's what he had to say...

Four games to go...

There are four massive games. We go to Scunthorpe and they're fighting for their lives, so we want to be going there and doing well. Fleetwood at home is obviously a massive game at home with it being a derby and all the bragging rights. Then there's Barnsley away who are pushing for automatic promotion and finally Gillingham at home for the last game of the season.

So we want to get as many points as we can, along with some good performances, and get ready for next season.

Looking ahead to next season...

Football life goes really quickly and this season certainly has done. Before you know it, next season will be on us, so we are planning. We'll have a meeting with the new board regarding players and plans for next season. I have to say, things are all going in the right direction.

Summer plans and developments...

I've got a good idea what we're planning to do. Things have been put in place, like we have a plan for the pitch and a plan for Squire's Gate, and the place just seems like everything is running to clockwork.

There just seems to be more of a buzz about the place, so it is exciting times ahead here at Bloomfield Road.

On Scunthorpe...

They went on a good run, then a poor run. It's surprising to see that some big teams are going to get relegated this year. Scunthorpe for the last few years have been at the other end of the table challenging for play-offs. But it's football - nobody has a God given right to do well.

We go there on Friday feeling really positive, with a good bill of health fitness wise and with a big squad to choose from. Jimmy Ryan has been training now for the last few days and is looking good, so fingers crossed for him that he can carry on like that.
