Terry McPhillips was delighted to see Blackpool pick up a much-needed home victory with a last-gasp winner against Fleetwood Town.
A 94th minute strike from Nathan Delfouneso secured the three points against Pool’s Fylde Coast neighbours, ending a long wait for thousands of fans to see the team victorious again.
“It’s not a bad time for it to come. It was exhilarating, the game was,” the manager enthused. “I thought the crowd were magnificent, awesome even and relentless with the singing and their passion. I thought our lads gave back and were the better team. I thought we played the pitch better than we have in the previous games.”
Given that Fleetwood were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes of the match remaining, the impetus was on Blackpool to go all out and get the result.
“We’re drawing and Tilty wants to play centre-forward. It’s hard to stop him – that’s the enthusiasm and desire to win the game. They’re obviously down to 10 men at that stage.
“It was great timing (to get the goal). It was a massive win for us and we’re all buzzing. I’m just delighted for everyone involved,” he added.
