Simon Grayson has further strengthened his Blackpool squad with the addition of winger Sean Scannell on a one-year deal, plus 12-month option.
The 28-year-old, most recently with Bradford City, has made more than 350 appearances in his career to date and previously worked with the manager at Huddersfield Town.
It was the Seasiders’ boss who first signed the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international from Crystal Palace in 2012, a club where Scannell debuted as a 17-year-old, won a Young Player of the Year award, a Championship Apprentice of the Year award and played 130 first-team games.
During a six-year spell with The Terriers, Scannell then continued to impress in the Championship and became a firm fans’ favourite.
In 2018, he joined Bradford City but saw his game-time restricted to 18 matches due to sustaining a stress fracture in his back.
This season he has made an additional six appearances for The Bantams and found the net in a 3-0 victory against Oldham Athletic earlier this month.
On joining Blackpool, Sean Scannell said:
“The manager is a plus for me coming here because I’ve worked with him at Huddersfield and he was a good man to work with. There’s also a good bunch of lads with the competition here and I can see the quality in the players. That competition will keep me on my toes as I look to get in the team. I just can’t wait to get going now.”
Manager Simon Grayson added:
“Sean is a player I’ve worked with before and he has plenty of experience at this level and above. He can play in a number of attacking positions and is another exciting addition to the squad.”
Sean Scannell is one of a number of players available to sponsor for the season, with prices starting from £300+VAT for supporter packages and £800+VAT for business packages. For further information, please contact 01253 609978.
