Nathan Delfouneso was pleased to get the job done in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Maidstone United.
The Seasiders reached the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday, despite being 45 minutes from a shock exit, as Maidstone took the lead into half-time. However, a rampant six minutes at the start of the second half saw Blackpool score three goals – two from Delfouneso, who was pleased to help pull the Seasiders through with his brace.
“We weren’t really at it in the first half, and we needed a strong response after half-time,” he admitted.
“The manager said at half-time that we needed to up the tempo and move the ball much quicker. They got into a good shape and didn’t leave much space, so we knew we had to be much quicker on the ball.
“It’s good we were able to score the equaliser so early on in the second half and after we got the second and third, we were able to settle down and ultimately got the job done.”
Following the Maidstone victory, Delfouneso is now up to five goals for the season, but the forward wants more as the season goes on.
“I want more, I always do,” he said.
“The most important thing is the team and getting the victories and get as far as we can. But on an individual note, I want to score as many as I can and keep them coming and we’ll go from there.”
