Simon Grayson was pleased to get the job done in the Seasiders FA Cup second round win over Maidstone United.
The visitors were on for a dramatic cup upset at half-time thanks to Saidou Khan’s wonderful volley from outside the area on 30 minutes.
However, a crazy six minutes in the second half where Blackpool scored three goals, was the difference which puts Blackpool into the third round again.
“We had to do everything we could to make sure we were in the hat for Monday night’s draw,” Simon Grayson said.
“We knew they were going to give everything they could to be in that third round, so whatever they threw at us we knew we’d have to better it.
“I’m pleased the lads saw it through and it’s pleasing that we’re into the third round again.”
Reflecting on the opening 45 minutes, where Maidstone put Blackpool under a good amount of pressure, the manager was frustrated in the Seasider’s build-up play.
“That opening 45 minutes was disappointing. We didn’t move the ball quick enough, we were too slow and pedestrian in our build-up play which allowed them to get their shape back.
“Obviously, their goal was a worldie of a strike, which put us under a little bit of pressure but we got the job done in that second half and we can now look ahead to next weekend’s game here against Fleetwood Town.”
