Blackpool walked away from Tranmere Rovers with a single point, thanks to a 1-1 draw at Prenton Park, in what was the final match of 2019 for the Seasiders.
It was a lively start from the Seasiders, with Armand Gnanduillet testing the gloves of Aaron Chapman in the Tranmere goal thanks to a header in the opening five minutes.
Nine minutes had passed when the Seasiders took the lead. A corner kick was delivered by Liam Feeney which caused all sort of issues in the Tranmere defence. The ball was bundled home, going through the goalkeeper’s legs, from what looked like a touch from Matty Virtue.
The muddy surface caused some real issues for both sides throughout the match. Blackpool can count themselves fortunate to not have been on the end of a blistering counter-attack, when a ball on the right hand side was stopped dead due to the conditions.
However, Blackpool’s fortune ended with five minutes remaining of the first half, when Morgan Ferrier equalised for the home side.
The powerful centre forward used all of his strength to outmuscle Ben Heneghan in the penalty area, and curl an effort low past Mark Howard from an acute angle to level the scores and bring an end to the first half.

It was more of the same in the second 45 minutes, with both sides trying to battle the pitch conditions, as well as their opponents.
Kieron Morris tried his luck from distance on 50 minutes for the home side, but his effort was just wide of Howard’s left post.
At the other end, just before the hour mark, Callum Guy had a lovely half volley effort from outside of the area saved well by Chapman.
Just a couple of minutes later, Joe Nuttall had a great opportunity, with a header from Ben Heneghan across the box setting the forward up well, but Nuttall’s header was tipped over the bar by Chapman.
With time running out, Mark Howard produced an increidble save, diving to his left to tip away a Connor Jennings volley from the edge of the area.
That was ultimately the last chance for either side in the match and both were left to settle for a single point.
