Blackpool travel to South Yorkshire on Wednesday to take on Rotherham United, in their first match of a brand new decade.
The Seasiders head into the match on the back of picking up a point at Tranmere Rovers last time out, but have picked up two points from the last four matches since victory over Fleetwood Town at the start of December.
As for Wednesday’s opponents, Paul Warne’s Rotherham have won their last two matches including an emphatic 4-0 home victory over Peterborough United in their previous match. Summer signing Freddie Ladapo, is the club’s current top scorer having found the net on 12 occasions so far this season – just one less than Armand Gnanduillet.
Simon Grayson’s men sit in tenth position in the league table heading into the match, whereas the opposition lie in third, yet only four points separate the two sides.
Jak Alnwick is still recovering from an injury sustained in the match vs Accrington last week. Sullay Kaikai came on as a substitute last time out at Tranmere, but will continue to be monitored. Other than that, there are no fresh injury concerns coming into the match.
Former Seasider, Clark Robertson, will be missing for the hosts due to a hernia problem. Robertson scored the winner in Rotherham’s victory at Bloomfield Road back in October.
First choice left-back, Joe Mattock, is also missing through suspension, along with right-back Billy Jones, who is recovering from an injury.
James Adcock will be the man in the middle for the match. He was also the referee in charge of Blackpool’s FA Cup victory over Maidstone United at the start December.
