Shrewsbury Town are the visitors to Bloomfield Road this weekend, signifying the start of the Seasider’s busy Christmas schedule.
Saturday’s match is the first of five across a fortnight, with league matches against Accrington Stanley, Tranmere Rovers and Rotherham United coming up, followed by an FA Cup match at Championship side Reading in the New Year.
Saturday’s visitors, Shrewsbury, have been impressive so far this season and currently sit in 11th place in the league table – just three points off the play-off places.
Sam Rickett’s side dug deep in their last outing, securing all three points against Coventry City, courtesy of a 91st minute winner from Shaun Whalley.
Ben Heneghan returns from suspension for the Shrewsbury match. The defender missed the 1-1 draw at Sunderland last weekend after reaching five yellow cards for the season. There are no fresh injury concerns heading into the game for the Seasiders.
As for Shrewsbury, manager Sam Ricketts has confirmed that midfielder Ollie Norburn will miss the match through suspension.
Sebastian Stockbridge is the referee for Saturday’s match, where he will be in charge of his second Blackpool game of the season. He refereed the opening day victory over Bristol Rovers in August.
