A late Emil Jaaskelainen header earnt the under-18s a point against Morecambe.
Amilcar Cadjou-Djau had earlier given the visitors the lead 15 minutes before the break, but a minute from time, Jaaskelainen snatched a point for the hosts when he met Ewan Bange’s cross.
The game started off very quiet, with the only talking point being the injury to Owen Watkinson. The striker was forced off with a hamstring injury in the opening five minutes.
After 25 minutes of play, that is when the chances started arriving.
The first of the game fell for Blackpool. Will McGladdery won the ball back and beat his man down the left side, he crossed in towards Hayden Ravenscroft, but the Morecambe defender got there first to clear.
Then, Blackpool won a free-kick 30-yards from goal. Sean Graham took it and tested Ollie Jumeau, but he stood firm and kept the ball out.
Blackpool didn’t make their chances pay, but Morecambe did. A long ball over the top of the defence wasn’t dealt, with which allowed Amilcar Cadjou-Djau through on goal, he took a few touches before slotting passed Sam Kellett.
Half-Time: Blackpool 0 Morecambe 1
Blackpool came out firing in the opening minutes of the second-half, from which they won a free-kick. Graham took it and whipped it towards the queue of tangerine shirts at the back post, but nobody could get on the end of it and Morecambe had a goal-kick.
After a stoppage in play for an injury to Andy Kanga, Morecambe had the next chance. They whipped a corner in to the area which was half cleared by Blackpool but only to a Cadjou-Djau, but he fired a half-volley just wide of Kellett’s post.
Shortly after coming on as a substitution, Emil Jaaskelainen played a great ball to Graham on the wing, he cut in on his left foot and got a shot away which looked destined for the bottom corner, only for Jumeau to produce a tremendous save to keep his side in the lead.
Blackpool were now applying more and more pressure. This time Will Avon turned the Morecambe defence with a ball over the top to Graham, he took it in his stride and squared it to Ravenscroft who shot, but his effort was weak and Jumeau gathered.
Morecambe then tried their luck. The ball deflected of a Blackpool shirt when cleared, straight into the path Abimbola Obajoto, but the on-rushing Kellett denied him from close range.
Again, Morecambe threatened. A cross was put in towards Freddie Price, he turned the Blackpool defence and looked certain to score, but the post denied him.
Five minutes from time, Graham put another dangerous free-kick into the area, this time towards Harry Winstanley. He nodded the ball back to Avon who headed towards goal, but Jumeau produced a point blank save to keep The Seasiders out.
Then, a minute from time, Blackpool broke through the Morecambe defence. The ball kept being pumped into the area time and time again. Ewan Bange took the ball down nicely, turned and crossed into the six yard-box where Jaaskelainen was waiting to head into the top corner.
