Chris Long was in buoyant mood after Blackpool’s victory at Portsmouth, having stepped off the bench to mark his debut with the winning goal.
The striker was quick to admit that the scenario against the league leaders was a dream start to his new chapter in tangerine colours.
“There’s nothing better than scoring on your debut. It’s what every striker dreams of. I’m absolutely buzzing that I’ve helped the lads to get the win,” Long said.
“I thought the lads were outstanding to be honest, every single one of them. The staff set the lads out and they were spot on. They were unbelievable, the lads.”
Opening his account for the club so quickly will no doubt make his transition to life at Bloomfield Road a smooth one, especially with the players around him.
“I met with the lads on Thursday. I obviously knew some of them, but they’ve welcomed me with open arms. I’m just made up to score the winner and get the three points for the lads.
“I came here to play football and score goals, and hopefully I can carry that on,” he added.
