Manager Explains Lack of Keeper On Bench

Injuries Limit Options

28 January 2019

Terry McPhillips has revealed that injury played a big part in why no goalkeeper was named on the bench against Coventry City on Saturday.

Having selected all outfield players as substitutes, the manager disclosed that Myles Boney dropped out of the squad with a shoulder problem.

“Myles got injured, Mark’s no quite right yet – hopefully for Tuesday he will be – and Jack Sims is on loan at Lancaster. If we brought him back, then I think we’d have to keep him then,” he admitted.

“We just went without a goalie and had a couple of candidates lined up if anything happened. We had a spare shirt and big gloves.”
