McPhillips: Plenty of Squad Options

Manager On January Arrivals and Availability of Injured Players

24 January 2019

Terry McPhillips says things are looking much better on the squad front ahead of Saturday’s fixture at Coventry City.

The manager met with the media this morning to discuss a range of topics, including the signing of Elias Sorensen and transfer of Ryan McLaughlin to Rochdale.

Here’s what he had to say…

Arrival of Elias Sørensen…

He’s a proven goalscorer in the under-23 level and then he’s gone away with Denmark and scored on his debut and scored two in two games. It’s a great capture for us and we’re delighted to get him. He goes straight into the squad and hopefully gets onto the pitch.

Possibility of further additions…

You never know in this game, do you? Maybe one more to help us score goals.

McLaughlin heading out…

Ryan wants to play and he hasn’t had as much opportunities as he’d have liked. He’s trained ever so well but just didn’t get the opportunities he wanted. Like a couple of others who haven’t played as much as they want, there’s possibly one or two more who might want to do that and seek football elsewhere.

Good news on the injury front…

Ollie Turton we could have involved on Saturday, but he hadn’t done a lot of training. He’s had the full week this week and I thought he was terrific in training on Monday and Tuesday, so he certainly comes back into contention.

We obviously have Tilty back, we’ll see how Mark Howard goes and Joe Dodoo is hopefully back training on Monday.

We’ll have a good bench, whatever it is, and some players might not even make the bench. That’s football, but we’d rather have that problem.
