Harry Pritchard was pleased to play his part for Blackpool and despatch a late penalty in the club’s 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers last night.
The midfielder had to fight off some competition from his team-mates to take the spot-kick, yet his past record won the right.
“I got six penalties last year, so I was always confident stepping up to the spot that I’d be able to put it in the back of the net.
“I think a few people fancied themselves. Obviously Nya won the penalty and had done well and Armand is always taking penalties in training. When Jay came off, it was said that I would be taking the penalties.”
Pritchard had started the game on the bench, however an early injury to Jay Spearing meant that he was required after just six minutes of action.
“It was that early that I was still relatively warm from the warm-up. It wasn’t too bad and I thought I settled down well into the game.
“We played well, but we were just disappointed with the goals we conceded.
“We kind of restricted them to set-pieces and that’s how they scored their goals, unfortunately. We need to defend better from them, which we’ll learn from.
“We definitely deserved something from the game,” he added.
