Blackpool Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Elias Sørensen on loan from Newcastle United.
The recently capped Denmark Under-21 international arrives at Bloomfield Road on a deal until the end of the season, having scored two goals in two matches for his country last week.
A highly-regarded prospect at St James’ Park, Sørensen has found the net 19 times for Newcastle’s under-23 side this season, with four of those strikes coming in the Checkatrade Trophy.
The 19-year-old follows in the footsteps of Sean Longstaff by making a temporary switch to Blackpool and hopes to replicate the success that the midfielder had with the club last season.
“You see Sean getting a few games in the Premier League now and he went away to Blackpool and Kilmarnock, so a few loan spells for him worked very well,” Sørensen said.
“I spoke to him about it (this move) and he liked it when he was here. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me as well.
“I’m excited to see what it brings. Hopefully I can get a few games in League One and show what I’m capable of.”
