Simon Grayson says his Blackpool side still has things to work on ahead of the new season getting underway in just under two weeks’ time.
The manager, speaking after watching one of two Blackpool teams record a 3-0 pre-season victory at Barrow, was happy with some aspects of the performance but admitted that certain areas require improvement.
“It was a build up from what we’d been doing already,” Grayson said. “The lads played 60 minutes at Fylde and then most of them had 90 minutes in this game. We did some good things and some things that we certainly need to work on as well. I thought we could have used the ball a bit better in blustery conditions, but it’s about making sure that we’re hard to beat and giving ourselves a base to go and play from.
“I don’t think they are too far away, but there are still plenty of things to work on in terms of what I want to get across to them. They’re a good group that want to take things on board and want to learn.”
As well as working with the current squad, the manager has also revealed that discussions continue over bringing additional players to the club.
“There’s plenty of talks going on. I don’t give too much away but I’m pretty sure that by the time we play Blackburn next week we’ll have another body in, maybe two,” he added.
