Simon Grayson has been permanently on the phone since arriving back at Blackpool over the weekend, shaping his plans for the new campaign.
The manager has been inundated with calls from agents and fellow managers about recruitment and player availability and is determined to get the right signings in the building.
“We know there’s certain areas of the pitch we need to strengthen and we’ve certainly been given the backing from the people above to go and do that,” Grayson revealed.
“It’s nice to know that over the last 12, 13 years as a manager I’ve built up some contacts that we can go to clubs and get players from. We’re working hard to get the right recruitment and get players who want to come here for the right reasons.”
Given the swift nature of his appointment, Grayson has a solid month to assemble his squad and develop a style of play that is in keeping with his personal beliefs.
“We’re going to have four weeks to get the players fit, work on ideas and get the players that I want to get into the football club,” he said.
“But I do generally believe that there is a decent group of players here. Everything they’ve done so far they’ve done with a real purpose. There’s some good, quality players who look like they can handle the ball. You look at someone like Sullay Kaikai and it’s a mark of intent of where we want to go.”
