Manager Terry McPhillips has revealed the two areas he is prioritising in the transfer market this summer – defence and attack.
Having recently made striker Adi Yussuf his first arrival, the focus is now on recruiting further forwards and players in the backline, especially with Ben Heneghan’s loan deal expiring and Donervon Daniels being on the released list.
“We’ve got some spaces left up front and we’ve certainly got some places at centre-half so they are the priorities,” he admitted.
“We’ve got the pull now of the fans coming back and the positivity in the town. People like to come to Blackpool and it now becomes more of an attractive proposition.”
Meanwhile, the manager has been pleased to see the renovation of the Bloomfield Road playing surface over the past few weeks, which should be conducive to more free flowing football.
“From the end of November onwards, the stats will tell you that the home form dips,” he explained. “We want to play some football on it and at times it’s been really difficult.
“The pitch is being done and it looks good with the grass growing now. I’m sure it will be much better than it was in the last couple of seasons. To have a better pitch is certainly going to help us.”
