Terry McPhillips has called on his Blackpool side to back up last weekend’s victory with another big performance against Plymouth Argyle tomorrow.
The Seasiders made a statement with a 4-1 win at Bradford City and must now continue in a similar vein of form to keep play-off hopes alive.
“Saturday is a big game because we really have to show now that we can back that performance up and make last Saturday’s win a great win,” the manager stated.
“It’s really important now to also win a game at home. I thought we should have won the Southend game but, in the end, it was last-gasp to get the draw.
“I thought in the Donny game we were the better side and should have won. Some wonder goals have gone in and we’ve paid for our mistakes. Now it’s about getting back to winning ways at Bloomfield Road.”
A four-point gap currently stands between Blackpool and Doncaster Rovers in the race for sixth spot, with this stage of the season where you’re constantly checking the league table and other results.
“You’re checking your phone straight away after the game and as soon as you get in the dressing room to see how the others have done,” McPhillips admitted.
“There would have been no point in doing that last Saturday if we’d have lost the game. We have to go and win this game now against Plymouth. It’s massive for us and the fans.”
