Simon Grayson is expecting a good battle on Saturday, as Blackpool host AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One.
Saturday will be the Seasiders fourth consecutive home match, having won the previous three and scoring nine goals in the process. Despite being in a good run of form, Simon Grayson is remaining cautious about Saturday’s opponent, who find themselves one place above the relegation zone.
“If you look at their last few results, they’ve actually done pretty well recently,” he said.
“They’ve got a talented young striker on loan from Brentford in Marcus Forss who’s scored a good number of goals in the last few games, so we certainly can’t underestimate them.
“We’ve got to ensure we’re prepared both physically and mentally, as sometimes you can get up for them big games but we’re certainly not slacking and have trained really well over the last week.”
Heading into Saturday’s game, the only player ruled out through injury is Nick Anderton and despite Jordan Thompson, Rocky Bushiri and Christopher Mafoumbi on international duty, Grayson still has a fit and healthy squad to select from.
“Competition for places in the team is great,” he admitted.
“Nobody can take their place for granted and think they’re the number one on the team sheet, regardless of if you’ve played 100 games or two games.
“If you get into the team, you’ve got to do your best to stay in the team. You can’t settle for what got you into the team, you need to go above and beyond to keep your place in the side.”
