Callum Guy insists Blackpool deserved their victory over Wolves U21 in their Leasing.com Trophy fixture.
The Seasiders secured safe passage into the knockout stages of the competition thanks to a stoppage time strike from Rocky Bushiri, and Callum Guy feels the team did well against a young and talented Wolves side.
“I think we played well in the game and created some good chances,” Guy said.
“We know we can still do better in the final third and I feel we should’ve put some more chances away, but we got the job done in the end which is what matters.”
Guy, who impressed on his return to the side following an injury hit spell in recent weeks, has also insisted the team are taking the competition seriously with a prize of playing at Wembley Stadium in the final an opportunity everyone should relish.
“There’s a chance to play at Wembley at the end of it, so you’ve got to respect this competition,” he explained.
“Any time you get the opportunity to play at Wembley, you want to put in 100%. We’re not taking this competition lightly, and you can tell that from the team the gaffer has put out in all the matches.
“We know what we need to do and by progressing onto the next stage of the competition , we’re one step closer to the final.”
