Jordan Thompson started for Northern Ireland last night in the Green and White Army’s Euro 2020 qualifier defeat to Germany.
The midfielder, who now has seven caps to his name, played the full 90 minutes, as Northern Ireland lost 6-1 to the four-time World Champions in Frankfurt.
Michael O’Neill’s men took a shock lead early on, thanks to Michael Smith’s wonderful effort on seven minutes.
However, the hosts took control from thereon in, with goals from Julian Brandt, two from Leon Goretzka and a hat-trick from Serge Gnabry condemning Northern Ireland to a heavy defeat, who must now rely on March’s play-off games to qualify for next summer’s European Championships.
Thompson will now return to Blackpool, ahead of a busy schedule in the coming weeks for the Seasiders.
