Heneghan: I Put High Demands On Myself

The Defender Wants To Add More Goals To His Game

23 October 2019

Ben Heneghan insists he would back himself against anyone in a set-piece situation, following his strike in the 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers.

The defender cancelled out Wycombe’s early lead on Tuesday evening with a looping header at the far-post, giving him his second goal of the season and the Seasiders a deserved point.

“I’d back myself against anyone at the back post,” Heneghan said.

“I’ve got high demands on myself and feel I should be chipping in with a few goals every season. Last year I didn’t score anywhere near enough and even if I scored ten goals this campaign, I’d want more.

“It’s vital defenders chip in with goals. We can’t just rely on the strikers – everyone has to help in any way they can.

“We’ve got to be ruthless. The more we demand from each other and the more we push each other, the better we’ll become over the course of the season.”
