Mark Howard stepped up his return to action as Blackpool lost 5-3 to Morecambe in the Central League Cup.
The goalkeeper, who played the first 45 minutes of the contest, was the only senior player involved at Squires Gate FC, with the rest of the side made up of first year pros and youth team players.
Making his first appearance between the sticks since rupturing his Achilles six months ago, the 33-year-old made a couple of fine stops to initially keep the visitors at bay.
It was Blackpool who opened the scoring with 17 minutes on the clock. Ewan Bange, fresh from scoring a brace at Tranmere Rovers last week, pounced after Rob Apter's strike had been spilled by Morecambe's Andre Mendes.
The Shrimps soon drew level though, before taking the lead in the 27th minute. Pool then hit back courtesy of Emil Jaaskelainen prior to the interval.
However, a goal from Kyle Hawley quickly restored Morecambe's advantage with 44 minutes on the clock.
The visitors were straight out of the blocks after the interval and made it 4-2 within minutes of the restart. That man Hawley got on the score-sheet again.
Carlos Mendes-Gomes then scored his second of the game past the hour mark, giving the Seasiders a mountain to climb.
Nathan Shaw replied to try and set-up a late comeback, though Ewan Bange's late effort was the best that the hosts could muster.
