Jay Spearing believes Blackpool showed tremendous character and fight to claim a point in yesterday’s draw at Burton Albion.
The club captain, who also reached 100 appearances in tangerine yesterday, felt the squad demonstrated real fight – particularly as they were down to ten men for a large part of the game following Curtis Tilt’s dismissal on 53 minutes.
“The lads worked so hard and put their bodies on the line throughout to get something from the match,” he said.
“I think we had a great attitude throughout the game, and with the two opportunities we had late on there was a real chance we could have taken all three points.
“If we show the character we showed in that game, to last 35-40 minutes down to ten men, we’ll have no problems come the end of the season.”
Reflecting on his 100 matches for the Seasiders, the club captain revealed what a huge moment it was for him and his family.
“It’s a special moment to play 100 games for any club, but to do so for Blackpool is incredible,” Spearing said.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family, and it’s something I’m very happy with, so long may it continue.”
