The youth team fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Curzon Ashton in the first round of the FA Youth Cup.
The under-18s went behind early on, before Ellis Wilson grabbed a goal back for the visitors prior to the half-time interval.
Substitute Brandon Dawson then gave Curzon the lead in the second-half as he slotted the ball past Charlie Monks. This proved to be enough, as the home side saw the game out to progress into the next round.
The first real action of the game came when the hosts scored the opening goal. A free-kick was whipped into the six-yard box where Luke Bertenshaw was waiting to turn the ball home.
It didn’t take long for the Seasiders to grab an equaliser, though. Tony Weston whipped the ball into the area towards Ellis Wilson, who looped a header over Liam Lovell and into the net.
Just before the break, Blackpool nearly had a second. Weston was played through with a ball over the top, he took a touch and volleyed towards goal, but Lovell did well to tip the shot over.
The second-half started slowly, with Blackpool keeping most of the possession but getting no joy from it.
Then, Curzon got their second of the game. Brandon Dawson raced through on goal after he was played through to knock the ball past Charlie Monks.
Rob Apter had a shot saved from distance by Lovell as Blackpool pushed for an equaliser in the dying embers of the game, but it wasn’t enough for the under-18s to keep their hopes in the competition alive.
