Mark Howard has stepped up his return from long-term injury by returning to training this week.
The goalkeeper, who ruptured his Achilles at Burton Albion in March, is now making good progress in his attempts to start playing again.
“It’s only been the last four or five days that he’s joined in again with the rest of the group, which is great for him," manager Simon Grayson revealed.
“Psychologically it gives him a great boost and he’s a great character around the dressing room, so it’s great for the other lads to see him back amongst it.
“He will travel with the first-team to Accrington just to be in and around the scenario. He’s still way off from being available for selection, but he’s making real good progress which we’re delighted with.
"He's a good lad and he’s had to work hard to get back to where he is.”
