Blackpool ran our comfortable 4-0 winners over Southport, in the first pre-season friendly ahead of the 20/21 season.
Despite no supporters able to attend the match due to social distancing requirements, the side put on a show with Grant Ward, Sullay Kaikai, Keshi Anderson and Jerry Yates all finding the back of the net.
With 23 minutes on the clock, the Seasiders broke the deadlock with a superb individual strike from Grant Ward.
The midfielder cut inside his marker in Southport’s final third before lashing home a wonderful strike into the top corner, leaving no chance for the Southport goalkeeper.
Blackpool created the better of the chances but couldn’t extend the lead in the first half and went into the interval leading one nil.

An entirely different XI took to the field in the second 45 minutes, with Neil Critchley making the most of the players at his disposal.
The Seasiders dominated from start to finish in the second half particularly. Sullay Kaikai made it 2-0 ten minutes into the second half, prodding him a rebound after the Southport goalkeeper saved Jerry Yates’ close range effort.
Keshi Anderson made it three to score on his debut just five minutes later, drilling a low shot across the face of goal and into the bottom corner.
The Seasiders domination worked wonders, and a fourth was added late on. Jerry Yates smashed home a penalty into the corner of the goal after Keshi Anderson was fouled in the penalty area.
