Neil Critchley feels his Blackpool side let themselves down in the first half in the narrow 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town.
The Seasiders couldn’t break down a stubborn Salop defence on Tuesday evening, and ultimately suffered defeat at New Meadow.
“I think we were flat in the first half let ourselves down a bit,” he said.
“We lacked that urgency both in and out of possession, and that was disappointing. We looked like a team that hadn’t played in ten days and given the ability we have in the side here, we should have done better.
“You know what you get with Shrewsbury. When they score first, they’re extremely difficult to break down and that proved the case in the match. We did improve in the second half where we had more of the play and moved the ball better, but ultimately we just couldn’t get that crucial goal.”
Critchley also confirmed CJ Hamilton will miss the next few weeks of action, after suffering a hamstring injury in training.
“CJ will be out for the next few weeks rather than days, which is frustrating,” he said.
“He’s a big player for us but it gives someone else in the squad the opportunity to step-up to the mark and grasp the opportunity.”
