Manager Simon Grayson has sent his very best wishes to his former assistant Tony Parkes, who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
The pair enjoyed great success together during the manager's first stint at Blackpool, achieving promotion to the Championship in 2007.
"It's terrible news about Tony suffering from this horrible illness," said Grayson, who also worked under him as a player at Blackburn Rovers.
"It puts things into a lot of perspective when you hear news like this. Tony was a massive part of my first time here with the experience that he brought to the table and everything that we did together.
"I'm wishing him a massive good luck with everything and our thoughts are with his family as well.
"We've just got to make sure that Tony's in good hands with everybody connected with him. I'm sure people will be digging deep and rallying round to try and help him in as many ways as possible."
