Opposition Report: Bristol Rovers

A Brief Look At Saturday’s Opponents

14 February 2020

Blackpool make the 400 mile round trip to the west country this weekend, with a trip to Bristol Rovers.

The Gas, managed by former Crystal Palace and West Brom assistant Ben Garner, are in the midst of a tough run themselves, having not won a league match since the 39-year-old was appointed in mid-December.

Rovers come into the match lying in 13th place, two points and two places above the Seasiders who have a game in hand over Saturday’s opponents.

Both sides last met on the opening day of the season, where Blackpool secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at Bloomfield Road back in August.

Last Three Results:

  • 11/2/20 – Tranmere Rovers 0-0 Bristol Rovers
  • 8/2/20 – Wycombe Wanderers 3-1 Bristol Rovers
  • 1/2/20 – Bristol Rovers 1-2 Coventry City

The Manager: Ben Garner

Ben Garner joined Rovers in December 2019, following the departure of Graham Coughlin to Mansfield Town.

This is Garner’s first club as manger, having been assistant at Crystal Palace and West Brom, as well as having a stint out in India as assistant at ATK.

11 games in to his stint as manager at the Memorial Stadium and Rovers are still looking for their first league victory, drawing five and losing six.

The Star Man: Jonson Clarke-Harris

Jonson Clarke-Harris joined Rovers in January 2019 from Coventry City, and since his move has become a fan’s favourite at the Memorial Stadium.

The forward has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Rovers so far this season, including a brace against Accrington Stanley earlier in the campaign.

Before his time at Coventry City, Clarke-Harris has also represented the likes of Oldham Athletic, MK Dons and Rotherham United.
