Simon Grayson is focusing his attention on what Blackpool can do to harm Reading ahead of the FA Cup Third Round Replay tomorrow evening.
The Royals travel to Bloomfield Road on Tuesday following the 2-2 draw at the Madejeski Stadium just over a week ago. In that game, Reading made wholesale changes from their previous fixture, including bringing in several youth team players.
Despite there being talk that Tuesday’s visitors could rotate their squad in a similar manner, Grayson is focusing his attention on what Blackpool can do to harm Reading.
“We need to prepare for what we can do to win the game and not focus all our energy on what the opposition are going to do," Grayson said.
“This is the same for any fixture, whether that be in the cup or the league. We need to pay attention on how we can improve as a team and get the victory that is required to go through to the next round."
With a fourth round tie at home to either Cardiff City or Carlisle United awaiting the winners of Tuesday night’s match, Grayson believes this game presents as a great opportunity for his team to get back to winning ways and make real progress.
“We were disappointed with the Christmas period and the results we had,” he admitted.
“We played well in the game at Reading last time out, so we’ve got to ensure we are positive in our approach for the replay and hopefully claim what would be a really impressive victory to take us into the fourth round.”
