Simon Grayson was pleased with how the players on the cusp of regular first team action performed in the 2-2 draw at Reading.
The manager made four changes from the previous match, with the likes of Curtis Tilt and Callum Guy getting a rare start, and Grayson believes they made a real impact on proceedings at the Madejski Stadium.
“It was a pleasing performance, particularly from the lads who have been in and out of the team recently,” he said.
“Anybody who’s been out of the team and then they get thrown into the action has to prove what they’re capable of doing. The likes of Curtis Tilt, Callum Guy and Calum Macdonald made real statements and have given me food for thought for the replay and there after.
“The last thing I said to the team before kick off was that they were in the team, and they’ve got to prove to me why they should be in it next time. They certainly did that.”
