Blackpool Football Club is pleased to announce Academy graduate Cameron Antwi has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
A central midfielder by trade, Antwi started his career at Fulham before joining the Seasiders in the summer of 2019, where he has since gone on to flourish in the development squad.
The 18-year-old has put-to-paper on a one-year-deal with the Club having an Option for a further season. Antwi will link up with Neil Critchley’s first-team squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Reflecting on signing his contract, Cameron Antwi said:
“I’m really pleased to have signed on the dotted line, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve worked tirelessly since I joined the Academy 12 months ago from Fulham. It’s been a big change, but football is so important to me and I’m over the moon to have signed a professional contract with Blackpool.
“This is just the start. It’s important I now continue to work hard and try and work my way into the first team plans, which is something I’m determined to do.”
Blackpool’s Academy Manager Warren Green said:
“When Cameron joined us, it was an early sign of intent from Simon Sadler on how important he views developing our own players.
“Cameron has seized his opportunity really well. He excelled in the U18’s and went on to do exceptionally well in the Central Development League last season.
“Working under a Head Coach like Neil Critchley, who is renowned for supporting and nurturing players to achieve their potential, will be a great help to Cameron. We wish him all the very best and will watch how he progresses over the next few years with interest.”
As well as Cameron, local Blackpool teenager Bradley Holmes has signed a two-year professional contract with the Club and will initially link-up with the U18 squad to continue his development.
