Blackpool Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of in-demand striker Jerry Yates from Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee.
Yates, 23, joins the Seasiders on a 3 year deal with the Club having an option to extend for a further year. Yates becomes tangerine after a prolific season on loan at Swindon Town where he played a crucial part for the Robins on their way to the League Two title, scoring 14 goals in 30 appearances.
A product of Rotherham United’s academy, the striker has enjoyed loan spells at various clubs and made close to 50 appearances for the Millers, proving to be a real threat at any level he has played at.
Despite facing stiff competition from other Clubs for his signature, Yates opted for Blackpool FC and becomes Neil Critchley’s fourth signing of the summer ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
On signing for Blackpool, Jerry Yates said:
“I’m buzzing to get this over the line and sign for Blackpool.
“I’ve known about the interest for a while now, so to finally be here is a great feeling. This is an exciting Club with a huge fanbase and a big vision for the future.
“I’m ready and waiting to help the Club succeed and I can’t wait for what’s to come.”
Neil Critchley said:
“I’m delighted that Jerry has decided to join us at Blackpool.
“He works tirelessly for the team and is exactly the kind of player we need to continue moving the Club forward. He’s honest and has a tremendous work ethic, which is something I’m sure our supporters will identify with.
"His goal scoring record, particularly last season, was excellent, and we’re delighted to welcome him to Bloomfield Road.”
