It is with immense sadness that Blackpool Football Club reports the passing of Academy Manager Warren Green at the age of 46.
An extremely dedicated professional, Warren’s association with the Seasiders spanned many years, having played in the academy and coached in the community and Centre of Excellence.
After broadening his coaching experiences elsewhere in the UK and out in Sweden, Warren returned to Bloomfield Road in the position of Academy Manager in 2017, overseeing the development and welfare of the Club’s promising youngsters.
In recent seasons, he courageously battled against cancer while working in his role and was a continuous inspiration to all those around him.
Owner Simon Sadler said:
“Gillian and I would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Warren’s family and friends. What was instantly recognisable when I first met Warren was that he was a thoroughly genuine man who clearly cared for the Club and always had the Club’s best interests at heart. I was taken aback by his remarkable bravery as he battled his illness and am truly humbled by the positive manner by which he continued to conduct himself.”
Chief Executive Ben Mansford said:
"From the day I joined the Club, I was bowled over and inspired by Warren’s love for the Club and desire for the Academy to be successful. In very difficult circumstances, Warren ensured the Academy continued to operate at the best level possible. Warren was a true gentleman and professional. Warren’s energy and personable nature, along with his big smile, will be greatly missed."
All at the Club are devastated by this news, and our heartful condolences and ongoing support go out to Warren’s family and closest friends.
Rest in peace, Warren.
