Kenny Dougall admits the players need to learn from the mistakes made in the narrow loss to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.
The Seasiders looked set for a sixth straight win in all competitions, after a fantastic opening 45 minutes saw Blackpool lead Doncaster 2-0 at the half-time break. But, Doncaster scored three goals without reply in the second half to steal all three points, and Dougall admits it was hard to take.
“From the position we were in at half-time, we expected to walk away with the win,” he said.
“Without troubling us too much, Doncaster have come away with the win and it’s a really tough one to take. We’ve got a lot of devasted boys in the dressing room, given how well we played in the opening 45 minutes.
“Some decisions went against us, but we can’t use that as an excuse. We need to learn from this, and use it as fuel for the rest of the season. If we want to be a success, we can’t let a two goal lead away from home slip away like that.
“I’m confident we can bouce back from this – it is just one game in a long season. We need to reflect on the game, and put things right from Saturday onwards.”
