Blackpool defender Marvin Ekpiteta insists the players are determined and ready for their upcoming FA Cup clash, as they face Eastbourne Borough in the first round on Sunday.
The summer signing, who has started in every League game this season under Neil Critchley, insists that his team-mates are looking forward to Sunday’s occasion.
“We can’t wait to get going. We’re looking forward to the Cup and we want to go as far as we can and take this competition seriously,” he said.
“We’ve had to wins on the bounce and put in some good performances throughout the season. The points we’ve got recently has given us more confidence to push on, so we’re aiming to keep that going on Sunday.
The 25-year-old defender, who started his career with National League South side Chelmsford City, insists that Blackpool must be wary of Eastbourne Borough ahead of their trip to Priory Stadium on Sunday.
“I’ve been in their shoes before. I know that when you play a team at a high level, you want to put it that extra 10%,” Ekpiteta added. “They will come at us more than they would normally, so we’ve got to be ready for that.
“I’ve played there a few times. I know what they’re about, so hopefully I can tell the boys what to expect and we can go there and put in a good performance.”
“We’ve got to make sure we play our normal game, treat them with respect and I’m hopeful that we’ll be fine and progress to the next round of the competition.”
Reflecting on his start to life at Bloomfield Road, Ekpiteta admitted that he is enjoying his time in Tangerine, and insists that he is getting stronger every day.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. I’m learning every game and I feel like I’m getting stronger, so hopefully that continues.”
“We’ve got a good group of players here who want to achieve and better themselves. We need to focus on Sunday now and give a good account of ourselves.”
