Luke Garbutt was left a happy man on his return to Harrogate, as the full-back helped the Seasiders on their way to the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday with a 4-0 win.
The 27-year-old, who was born and brought up in Harrogate, was instrumental on his return to the starting XI, with his whipped corner kick opening the scoring on Saturday.
“The lads are saying the corner was going in, even though a defender seemed to get a slight touch on it as it went in,” Garbutt said.
“Just to help the team with that first goal was a really good feeling, as I felt it set the tone for the rest of the match and after we scored the first, we never looked back.
“It was tough in the first half to break Harrogate down. They had two rows of four and made it difficult for us. But, as the game went on and we grew into the game I felt we were worthy winners.
“Ultimately, it was a great win to see us through to the third round. It would be nice to get one of the Premier League teams and test ourselves against the best, but we’ll just have to wait and see who we get in the draw.”
