Blackpool will be looking to build on their two consecutive victories in League One, as they face Eastbourne Borough in the FA Cup first round on Sunday.
Neil Critchley’s side will be going to Priory Lane full of confidence after taking maximum points from their last two League One outings. A 2-1 victory against Burton Albion claimed an important three points on the road, before Sullay Kaikai’s goal fired the Seasiders to a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic last Tuesday.
Blackpool, who ran out FA Cup winners in 1953, made it to the third round of the FA Cup last season against Reading. A 2-2 draw at the Madejski Stadium earned the Seasiders a replay, but crashed out after a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at Bloomfield Road.
Meanwhile, Eastbourne Borough will be looking to continue their impressive run of form, with Danny Bloomer’s side winning five of their last six games in all competitions.
“The FA Cup first round is always a special day. We’re well aware of what it means to them. They’re on a good run of form, so I’m sure they’ll be up for the occasion and be looking to prove a point.
“We want to take this competition seriously. We have to go there and do our job. There will be a shock result this weekend, but we’ve got to make sure that’s not us.”
“Sunday is a massive day for us. We’re looking forward to it. We want to make it a day to remember.
“Blackpool are a very good side and they are the favourites, but we will give our everything to give them a good game and make sure we have every chance of progressing in the competition.”
