Blackpool are straight back into action on Wednesday evening, as they welcome Leeds United Under-21’s to Bloomfield Road in the final group stage game of Papa John’s Trophy.
Neil Critchley’s side will be looking to seal qualification and progress into the next round of the competition. A bonus point against Barrow A.F.C. and one point against Accrington Stanley leaves the Seasiders on three points ahead of Wednesday evening’s final group stage game. Blackpool need one point to seal their qualification into the next round.
Leeds United will be looking to mount a late push in qualifying for the next round of Papa John’s Trophy. A point against Barrow in October will give the Whites some confidence ahead of their trip to Bloomfield Road, after falling to defeat in the first group stage game against Blackpool’s League One counterparts Accrington Stanley in September.
“We know it’ll be a tough game against Leeds. They’ve got some very talented youngsters and play in a similar way to the first team. If you give talented players time to play, then they’ll hurt you.
“We’ll be focused and ready, and we look to go and win the game.”
Neil Critchley has been a handed a boost ahead of Wednesday’s fixture, with Keshi Anderson and Oliver Šarkić both in contention ahead of their returns from the sideline. Ethan Robson will also be available for the Seasiders, after serving his three-match ban.
Matty Virtue, Luke Garbutt and Jordan Williams will all miss out. Ben Woodburn has also returned to training, but the midfielder will not be eligible to play for the Seasiders, having previously played in the competition for Liverpool.
