Blackpool defender Dan Ballard was delighted to make his debut for the club against Charlton Athletic, with the promising youngster hungry for more opportunities in Tangerine.
Ballard, who was initially named on the bench, was immediately introduced as James Husband was shown a straight red card inside the first minute.
After being named man of the match following an impressive debut, Ballard was pleased to make his first Blackpool appearance and is relishing more opportunities.
“I really enjoyed making my debut. This is why I’m here, I want to play and help the team to victories. I loved every minute, so hopefully I can work hard and get many more opportunities,” Ballard said.
“It was a bit of a shock, but I was prepared to come on and ready to get on the pitch and put a performance in for the team.”
Reflecting on a late defeat on Tuesday evening, the defender believes Blackpool deserved more from the game.
“The whole team is really disappointed. We worked hard, especially in the first half with the sending off. We stuck together and got ourselves back into the game.
“It was a tough team in tough circumstances. I thought as a team we defended well throughout, I can’t think of many clear-cut chances they had.
“It could have gone either way, it was a frustrating day, but we’ve just got to keep battling and working hard as a group.”
Ahead of a busy schedule for the Seasiders, Ballard believes Blackpool have the character to bounce back ahead of Saturday’s clash against MK Dons.
“We’re not playing badly, it’s just about growing as a group and grinding out results. We’re all up for the challenge and we will do well together as a team.
“It’s fine margins. It’s a tough defeat to take, but we’re working really hard and I’m sure we’ll bounce back and the results will come.”
