Neil Critchley insists his Blackpool side are determined to improve their performance, as they aim to return to winning ways against Lincoln City on Saturday.
The Seasiders were left frustrated on the road for the second time this campaign, as Dominic Samuel’s brace earned Gillingham all three points at Priestfield.
Despite two defeats from their opening three games, Critchley’s men have some positives to take into the game as they look to build on their 2-0 victory against Swindon Town at Bloomfield Road. Reflecting on Saturday’s game, Critchley insisted the visitors will pose a tough test for the Seasiders, but one that they are more than capable of overcoming.
“They’ve had a really good start to the season and are in form, so it’ll be a tough test for us. They’re scoring goals and not conceding many so they will be full of confidence and rightly so.
“All the games in this division are tough, there’s never a lot between the teams. We want to improve on what we did last weekend against Gillingham. There were some positives to take, so I’m hoping we can implement them and get a positive result on Saturday.”
Critchley also praised his squad’s application to the start of the season, admitting that his players are determined to achieve more and improve as the season develops.
“We always want to do better and achieve more, we’re never satisfied. I think in all three games, our performance has been encouraging, but we know it’s a results business and perhaps we haven’t got the results our performances have merited.
“We’re aiming to improve on our performance against Gillingham and I’m hopeful that’s what were looking to do against Lincoln and in the games that follow.”
