Neil Critchley feels his squad can take a lot from the 1-1 draw at Crewe Alexandra.
The Seasiders left Gresty Road on Saturday with a single point to show for their efforts, despite having vastly superior amounts of possession over their hosts. After going behind early in the second half, the squad dug deep and found the equaliser – something which Critchley feels was more than deserved given how the team played.
“We deservedly equalised after going 1-0 down in the game, which is always tough to take,” he said.
“I think throughout the 90 minutes, we limited Crewe to very few chances and the lads showed fantastic character to bounce back and keep battering the door to find the equaliser.
“We didn’t let Crewe out of their own half at times. Our defending, our pressing, our counter-pressing was fantastic to see. Generally, it was a good performance.”
In claiming the draw, the Seasiders collected their first point on the road of the season and Critchley is already looking for his team to back the point up with a good performance at home to Charlton on Tuesday night.
“There’s no point playing like we did today and claim a point to not go and back it up on Tuesday against Charlton.
“It’s a busy few weeks that lie ahead for us, and it’s important we remain focused and prepare for a frantic schedule over the coming weeks.”
