The Seasiders brought in highly-rated Liverpool midfielder Ben Woodburn on loan on Friday afternoon. Here are a few facts about the Club’s brand new signing!
- Woodburn was born on 15 October 1999, and turned 21 this week.
- The midfielder was born in Nottingham, and raised in Tattenhall, Cheshire.
- He joined Liverpool at under-7 level, making his debut for the Reds against Tranmere Rovers in 16/17 pre-season.
- He made his under-18s debut during the 15/16 season aged 15, ending the campaign as the club’s joint top goalscorer.
- Woodburn made his Premier League debut for Liverpool in November 2018 aged 17 years and 42 days, becoming the third-youngest debutant in the club’s history.
- After his goal against Leeds United in an EFL Cup quarter-final in November 2018, Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer at 17 years and 45 days.
- Woodburn was nominated for the 2017 European Golden Boy award.
- The 21-year-old made his senior debut for Wales in September 2017, scoring his first international goal in a 1-0 victory over Austria.
- He was named BBC Wales Young Sportsman of the Year in December 2017.
- The midfield prospect spent last season on loan at League One counterparts Oxford United, making 16 appearances for the U’s.
