Blackpool fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic, courtesy of a late Chuks Aneke header.
Both sides, who were reduced to ten men in the first half, struggled to break either defence down, but it was Aneke who struck the crucial goal late on to snatch all three points for the visitors.
Remarkably, the Seasiders were reduced to ten men in the opening 60 seconds. James Husband looked to trip into Omar Bogle, as the Charlton striker was baring down on goal, and Neil Critchley’s men were forced to play the remainder of the game a man down. Grant Ward was the man to make way, with Dan Ballard brought on to make an early debut.
Despite the numerical advantage, Charlton struggled to break down the hosts in the first half, with Blackpool able to adapt well to playing on the counter attack.
CJ Hamilton was causing real trouble for Ben Purrington on the flank, with Blackpool continuously spraying long balls over the top for the wideman to get in behind.
Purrington, who was given a yellow card in the opening ten minutes of the game, received his second yellow on 35 minutes for a foul on Hamilton, and both sides fought out the remainder of the contest with ten men.
A number of chances went begging for both sides in the opening 45 minutes, with them going in goalless at the break.

The two sides mustered themselves for a physical encounter in the second half, and Charlton had the ball in the beck of the net just before the hour mark. A corner kick was swung in and Ryan Innis rose highest above everyone else to smash the ball into the far corner. Led by Chris Maxwell, the Blackpool players protested for a foul in the build up, and following consultation with his assistant referee, the referee disallowed the goal.
Blackpool were looking dominant following the disallowed goal and CJ Hamilton tried his luck from distance, with his shot blocked by the Charlton defence.
With time running out, it was an end to end contest and Charlton dug deep to find the crucial goal. Alfie Doughty did well to head a cross back across goal to the substitute, Chuks Aneke, who was able to head home from seven yards out and snatch all three points at the death.
