Blackpool’s new signing Ben Woodburn admitted he is excited to play under Neil Critchley after joining on loan from Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
The 21-year-old Welsh international, who spent last season on-loan at League One counterparts Oxford United, is aiming to impress under familiar face Neil Critchley after joining the ranks at Bloomfield Road.
“I feel like we have a good bond. Hopefully, I repay his faith in with me with a few goals and assists,” Woodburn said.
“He knows me as much as a player as I do, I’m sure he’ll get the best out of me like he did at Liverpool. I’m looking forward to working with him and getting some games under my belt.
“I’ve really enjoyed it since I first arrived. All the lads are great players, the staff are good people and I’m familiar with the manager too. I’m just excited to get on the pitch.”
The exciting midfielder, who was nominated for the 2017 European Golden Boy award, believes Blackpool’s performances will turn into results sooner rather than later.
“I think sometimes you don’t get the results you deserve in certain games. I think that’s what Blackpool have had this year; they’ve been unlucky in games they’ve dominated.
“I’m sure we can turn these performances into results and start climbing the table soon. There’s some good teams in this league, but we’re right up there.”
After briefly being exposed to League One experience with Oxford United last season, the wide midfielder insists he is feeling fitter than ever before ahead of Blackpool’s clash against Charlton Athletic this evening.
“I feel like I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. The manager at Wales prefers players who have played regularly, so hopefully I get the chance to impress him and help Blackpool push up the table.
“It was tough when I got injured, but I feel like I’m past that now. I feel fitter than ever and I’m just ready to get going this season and get some games under my belt.”
