Following Blackpool’s victory over Swindon Town on Saturday, Neil Critchley praised the returning fans who played their part in a memorable occasion.
1000 Seasiders made their return to Bloomfield Road for the first time in six months, as Blackpool hosted one of seven Pilot Test matches in the EFL’s efforts to get fans back to football grounds.
CJ Hamilton’s quickfire double gave Blackpool a comfortable victory over newly-promoted Swindon, with the Seasiders getting their first three points of the 20/21 League One campaign.
Reflecting post-match, Critchley was delighted to have Blackpool fans back and insisted they played a vital part in helping his team pick up the three points.
“It was brilliant to have them back”, Critchley said.
“It was a special atmosphere, they got right behind the team and I’m really happy that we got the three points so that they went home happy.
“People want to come and support their team and have a release on a Saturday afternoon. It was really important for them to be there; the three points was for them.
