Neil Critchley is looking for his Blackpool side to build on their impressive performance against Swindon Town last weekend, as they face Gillingham on Saturday.
The Seasiders got off the mark in their 20/21 League One campaign after CJ Hamilton’s double fired them to victory against Swindon Town at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool will be looking to follow up with another victory on Saturday, as they travel to Gillingham for their second away test of the campaign. Despite their first away trip ending in a narrow defeat to Plymouth Argyle, Critchley insists his side are looking to build on the two impressive performances to date.
“It’s important we look to take our performance into Saturday’s game”, Critchley said.
“It’ll be a tough game, but if we can bring our style of play into the game then we can be a tough test for them too.
“It was important we got off the mark last Saturday. Winning breeds belief and confidence, which will only grow if we pick up some quick wins at the start of the season. It was a deserved three points.”
Critchley also praised the signing of Luke Garbutt following his arrival at Bloomfield Road this week, with the Head Coach believing the 27-year-old can bring some experience to his side.
“He brings a tremendous amount of quality and experience with him. You can see that from the first few days he’s been here, the way he conducts himself and trains as a top professional.
“Luke brings some good attacking qualities and competition to the squad, which I think is really important. He wants to improve and get better on a personal level too and hopefully we can help him to do that this season.”
